The firm currently operates mainly in the corporate private and public sectors of the Kenyan economy and it’s licensed to transact all classes of insurance businesses both life and non-life. The directors of the Company have been practicing insurance professionals both as owners and senior managers of leading Insurance Broking Companies in the Kenyan Market. Plan & Place Insurance Brokers Ltd was registered as Broadfields Insurance Brokers Limited in the year 2001. Following its successful merger with Plan & Place Insurance Brokers Limited in the year 2005, the directors elected to continue trading as Plan & Place Insurance Brokers Limited.

JAMES N. GATHARA, Bcom (Hons), ACII CHAIRMAN & CEO

Mr. Gathara is the Chairman of the Company. He is a graduate of the University of Nairobi (Bcom, Hons – Insurance Option) and holds a Diploma from The Chartered Insurance Institute, London (ACII). He has extensive experience in Insurance having worked in the Insurance Industry.

Mr Gathara has also been involved in international insurance placements and has attended many technical and management courses in insurance both locally and internationally. In the Year 2000, he served as the Chairman of the Association of Insurance Brokers of Kenya (AIBK) . Mr Gathara is also a Member of the Kenya Institute of Directors having gone through relevant training by the centre for Corporate Governance. At Plan & Place, he is in charge of overall policy formulation, marketing as well as relationship management.

PETERSON M. MWAI, Bcom (Hons), ACII DIRECTOR STRATEGY & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Mr. Mwai holds a Bcom (Hons) from the University of Nairobi, majoring in the Insurance Option. In addition, he is a qualified Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, London (ACII). Mr. Mwai has served in the insurance industry for many years in different capacities in a career that started in 1994 at Liaison Insurance Brokers.

Mr. Mwai has been involved in all aspects of insurance ranging from underwriting, claims management, marketing, design, placement and management of corporate Risk and Insurance Programmes for many organizations in private and public sectors. He has also served as the Hon. Secretary of the Insurance Institute of Kenya.

At Plan & Place, Mr. Mwai is in charge of Business strategy, marketing and client relationship management.

PAUL N. NJUGUNA, BCom (Hons), ACII DIRECTOR, CORPORATE DIVISION

Mr. Njuguna holds a Bcom (Hons) from the University of Nairobi, majoring in the Insurance Option. He is a qualified Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, London (ACII) and has served in the insurance industry for 20 years in different capacities.

He has a wealth of experience in all aspects of insurance ranging from underwriting, claims management, marketing, design, placement and management of corporate Risk and Insurance Programmes for many organizations in both private and public sectors.

At Plan & Place, he is currently serving as the Director, Corporate Division.

EUNICE N NGEA BCom (FIN), CPA (K) DIRECTOR, FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION

Ms. Ngea is in charge of the Finance & Administration Division in the Company. She is a holder of a BCOM (Finance) degree and is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya [CPA (K)]. She has extensive experience in Finance Management and implementation of accounting systems.

She is currently serving as the Director, Finance & Administration Manager at Plan & Place Insurance Brokers Limited.

NICHOLUS I. KARANJA BCom (Hons), ACII, Dip. CIM DIRECTOR, BROKING DIVISION

Mr. Nicholus is a seasoned Insurance professional with extensive, hands-on experience in Business Development, with over 10 years industry experience. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Insurance from University of Nairobi, Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered institute of Marketing (UK).

At plan and place, he is currently serving as the Director, Broking Division Manager.

Management Staff

Besides the top management team we have highly qualified management staff at middle management level in all departments. These include service management staff handling the underwriting and claims management function, I.T. as well Human Resource and Finance Management Staff. Our management structure is designed to provide personalized and efficient service to all our clients at all times. Each client is therefore assigned to a service team headed by a service manager but ultimately accountable to a Director. We recognise the importance of professionalism in service delivery and therefore strive to ensure that all our staff are well qualified for the duties assigned to them.
